Electronic Annual Instruction Planner (AIP) for ELL Students
English Language Learners (ELL) need additional English language development support in order to access the provincially prescribed curriculum and succeed in the academic environment. The ministry provides ELL rubrics for a basis of consistency, quality, and equity.
Dr. Steve Weatherbee demonstrated how to efficiently access the electronic ELL rubrics for grades K-3, 4-7, and 7-12 and develop the student’s Annual Instruction Plan (AIP). Areas of focus were on;
- ELL rubric completion
- Entrance assessments
- Adaptations (classroom, language, culture)
- Strengths and interests
- Monitoring progress (fall/spring)
